a country walk...

Monday 27 December 2010

i love you Dustin

It's sort of a bummer 'cause I kinda liked 2010. It was... atmospheric. Plus you could write 2010 in cursive. t'was that cool.
The country walk was held today, in the country at 1300 hours. I fell in a puddle and walked on water.
Granted the lake was frozen solid, it did still have the same gratifying 'I'm following Jesus' effect.
The father got really pissed off because we were mainly taking photo's of each other (my sister's, my mother and myself) and I think deep down wanted in on the photographic action. But since he wore a stupid hat that made him look like he should be the child-snatcher out of
'chitty chitty bang bang'
I think we did the whole world a favour. sorry dad.

Let's keep this short and sweet, following suit with a picture of my favourite scene from the graduate:

I wish I were Margot...

Christmas is over for some... but not for me.
I refuse to let the Crimbo spirit die. it's. not. happening.
I haven't hit the sales yet, but I think that might be a good thing for the nations safety.
I'm reckless when there's 50% off.
As per good old Boxing day tradition I spent the day indulging on chocolates, eating last nights roast and watching amazing films. I fell in love with The Royal Tenenbaums.

They remind me slightly of my own family except they're more dysfunctional but similarly eccentric.

I would kill for Margot's coat.

Tomorrow is time for a countryside walk/picnic, where I shall snap lot's 'n' lot's of shot's of country...ish things. like sheep. or cow's - though for my 17th birthday I am promised a cow, should I be excited? When I lived in Ireland my sister's, my mother and me went on a road trip around the country and I've got to say the Irish cow's scared me. They all stood in circular huddles and when you drove past they'd look at you and moo like they were bitching about you. You could see the judgment in their eyes, like

'yeah, we know you eat cow- you probs had my cousin Emma's ass for dinner last night. bitch.'

And I know I'm probably enforcing cow.... racism? here but English cows seem to be little less intimidating, more oblivious.

I just went on a rant about the race of cows. 'Gonna be honest, I'm a little embarrassed.

Thank you to Hivenn, who mention me in her blog. (No, you wouldn't kill for my hair! It's just frizz.)

I hope everyone that celebrated, had an amazing Christmas!

Friday 24 December 2010

what day is it?

Do you know what today is?
Christmas Eve!

that means tomorrow = food!
I sound like I never eat, I do eat - a lot.
I'm just over excited about the food part of Christmas, I know.

Today I went out with my cousin and it was cool, a lot of music and I kid you not he's one of the funniest people I know. He's hilarious.
there was:
Leonard Cohen
Joanna Newsom
The Ryan O'reilly Band (my cousins best friends band, who are amazing!)
Miles Davis
Vampire Weekend
The villagers
and so much more.

I've got the presents all wrapped up, the food all prepared and now I've got to go make a fire - in the fire place of course. Wouldn't it be unfortunate if the day before Christmas a fire started?
not cool.

I think snow might be afraid of the sun

Do you like the new blog layout? I think that it looks way better than the old one !
___________
I dont know if you've noticed (it's hard not to) but everyone seems to be an exact copy of Justin Bieber with the whole 'mullet swept over to the side' thing going on. I used to have one but I grew out of it, I quite seriously saw a man of about the age of 50 with a side-fringe I kid you not! I nearly threw up right there. Old people should not follow young people trends. It's. not. right.
My whole point is, why is it so popular? The only thing it will do is give you a greasy fringe and really bad spots on your forehead, who wants that?
+
I would seriously recommend that everyone who ever reads this blog, past; present and future, locate their mouses to The Google - type on the words : Thepop.com and click on the link.
Or just click on the hyperlinks I just added... whatever.
It's just like no other WebaZine I've read, I don't even know what to say about it. I can't sing its praises enough?

It is T-minus 2 day's 'till Crimbo!
And I'm so excited, but the thing is; I'm not exactly as excited about the presents as I should be. I'm excited, don't get me wrong but I think you know you've got problems when your more excited about the food than anything else about the day.
I just can't stop thinking about it! Roast potatoes are my best.
My sister is home from university and so it finally feels like christmas, it was so weird putting up the christmas decorations and the christmas tree without her. It just felt wrong. But now she is back and the sisters are back together agian! I just realized how aboslutely corny that sounded. I should just be cast into a high school musical film. right. now.

I've been so bored lately! y'know when your bored so you try to do stuff, but doing stuff is boring too? It's been like that. I can't even remember what I've done these last few days (well I can remember the shopping)! See, the thing is that I've been really quite Sick lately so I went to the doc's and he gave me some steroids and now I have to get better. My doctor is AMAZING! you know you see in films the childrens doctor with the spotty bow-tie, long hairy eyebrows that could shade a small indian family's eyes from the sun for the summer and is quite fat in a round, 'I was born with the description Jolly and Happy' kinda way. That's him. Except he has the weird sense of sarcastic, dry wit. He also has the ability to put up with my laughter. I have been cursed with this humiliating trait where whenever I'm in an important consultation or meeting (not that I get a lot) I laugh non-stop. And they (the important people) always think its AT them. it's really not. I promise.

As this post seems to be all about recommendations,
why not check out Hivenn?
She makes her own jewellery, she has interesting posts and her comments have accidently been disabled. This girl has it all.
The jewellery is so pretty and all her pieces are one of a kind, so you can never say you have the exact same ring as someone else.

____________

Yes, this post get's longer, but there is so much to tell and show.
I went shopping for Crimbo presents and although I did buy the last tit-bits of gifts, I did also come back with two little present for myself.
Feast your eye's on these bad boy's:

aren't they beautiful?
The hat was actually a gift from my Granny, oh how I adore her.

And so today I wore an outfit. yes, clothes. I connected with my inner little girl, going with the whole pastel, plaid and floral vibe.

I think it's quite cute.

And a while ago I said I was going to make a skirt. I did. this is it. It was finished a while ago but I was to lazy to charge my camera batteries so pictures never came. But Christmas kicked that laziness into action and I have charged them.

I went for a whole 'floral OAP vs Tribal ethnicity' thing.
I think it turned out amazing, seeing as I stitched the arm of my jumper to my fabric in Textiles class.
Merry Christmas!

Here are some festive photo's I took, enjoy:

my advice? just wear wellies?

My new thing for winter is wellies! I've had my fair share of mis-haps when it comes to wellies, but I'm prepared to put past 'horros' behind me and give them a second chance. Once a theif stole my wellies whilst I was camping, to bad for them mine were £4 from ShoeZone and shit + theirs were a lovely navy blue and comfortable. score. I have things stolen from the weirdest places! Once I had my all time, hands down favourite pair of sunnies stolen in a library! A library! who knew such shifty people went to the library?

Not like I was in the library or anything uh I was umm just looking at uhh the uhh walls! I was looking at the walls for a umm Geography project! Yeah Social and economic wall prices and all that. pfftt get with it!

Anyway, wellies are practical and stylish. If, like me, your 'village' is rainy (or snowy like my place of residence has recently become) wellies are your best bet at survival. For me, nothing is worse than cold wet feet/socks. I hate it! And when worn right wellies can give you that 'cute, about to go do something very mysterious in a feild' sort of thing. Oh my, I just read that. It sounds like I'm talking about murder or a dodgy drug deal or something! I meant go pet a sheep or tip a cow!
And what goes better with a pair of wellies than a wonderful winter coat?
A coat is something you have to take time with when buying, you are going to wear this coat most days in winter. I need a new winter coat but I cant afford one! so what am I going to do? Attach things to my old one! like lace around the cuffs and fur around the hood. I've even bought some beads to sew around the pocket. So instead of wasting money you don't have, make something completely new and original with what you do have.
The tides are 'a' turining and christmas is coming! YAY! I love christmas it always feels like sunshine, gingerbread and buttercups all mixed in together!
You get all the christmas movies, which I'm not a huge fan of, but then you get the odd films too. like I watched the original swedish version of Wallander! uh-mazing, I cant tell you how scared I was for Wallander when that black guy was behind the blinds! and the Sonja's body was disgusting!
